With heavy hearts, we share the unimaginable and heartbreaking passing of Ashley Draughn — a loving mother, devoted wife, and a cherished friend to our community.
Just days before her world was turned upside down, Ashley was celebrating life’s joyful moments with her family. On Friday, May 30th, she proudly watched her 5-year-old son Hendrix graduate from Pre-K and her 11-year-old stepdaughter Madelyn complete 5th grade. A beautiful photo from that day captures the four of them smiling – life was full of love, laughter, and anticipation for the new school year ahead.
But everything changed in an instant.
The following Monday, Ashley went to the ER after experiencing unexpected symptoms. She was admitted to Jupiter Medical Center, where doctors delivered the unthinkable: Ashley, just 30 years old, had advanced cancer that had already spread to multiple organs and her bones. In that heartbreaking moment, her first thought wasn’t of herself – it was of her family. Her only concern was how they would endure what lay ahead.
As if the diagnosis weren’t shocking enough, things got even worse when Ashley fractured her hip while simply reaching for a remote reflecting how deeply the cancer had weakened her body. She was airlifted to Shands Hospital in Gainesville for specialized care. Despite every effort and the strength of those by her side, we had to say goodbye to Ashley.
Ashley was a talented and passionate hairdresser, known for her warmth, creativity, and kindness. Her husband, a dedicated barber, stepped away from work to be by her side during this unimaginable crisis.
We are raising funds to support Ashley’s family during this tragic time to help with medical and memorial expenses, as well as childcare and the many challenges of single parenthood. Most importantly, these funds will provide stability for the family as they begin to navigate life without her.
