My sister has finally received answers to the cause of her failing health and is seeking financial help as she prepares for next steps to reclaim her health. This is her story:
Hi, my name is Lisa. I’m a mom of four and I’ve spent my life working in the medical field, taking care of others, now I’m in a place where I need to ask for help to take care of myself.
In early 2014, after losing weight and after breastfeeding my four beautiful children, I chose to get breast implants to feel more confident in my body again. At the time, I believed this was a safe and empowering choice. I had no idea that the implants could harm my health! I was never warned about the risks.
Over the past year, my health has been declining in ways I never expected. I’ve developed constant hives, severe fatigue, brain fog, joint pain, a strange metallic taste in my mouth, and most concerning, pain in my right breast. Every day is a struggle. I’m now on monthly injections just to manage the hives, and my quality of life has drastically decreased. I’m truly scared about what is transpiring in my body.
I have recently learned about Breast Implant Illness (BII), a condition I had never even heard of until six months ago. Now I know that many women like me are facing these same symptoms caused by their implants.
After consulting with my doctor and surgeon, it is clear that I need to have my implants removed as soon as possible to give myself a chance to heal and return to the life I used to enjoy.
I’ve managed to cover part of the surgery through Care Credit, but I’m still short to complete the full cost and be able to make ends meet while I recover for 4+ weeks. As a limited income household and with medical expenses already piling up, I simply cannot come up with all of the medical on my own. It’s incredibly hard for me to ask for help, but my health depends on this surgery.
If you can donate, even a small amount, it would mean the world to me and my family. And if you can’t donate but can share my story, that would help me more than you know.
Thank you so much for reading and for your support, it means everything to me.
