Kelly Mullooly, a vibrant and beloved recent graduate of Massapequa High School, has received the devastating news of a cancer diagnosis. This bright, promising young woman had just embarked on her dream of studying Forensic Science at the University of New Haven. A dedicated student, accomplished athlete, and recipient of the distinguished Girl Scout Gold Award, Kelly had the world at her feet. Accepted into the University of New Haven’s Honors Program, a cherished member of the collegiate cheer team, and a sister of the Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority, she was embracing this exciting next chapter of her life. Sadly, midway through her second semester, what appeared to be an athletic injury in her knee was revealed to be an aggressive form of cancer. Faced with this unimaginable diagnosis, a daunting treatment plan, and surgery, Kelly’s first thoughts were not for herself, but for her family, asking, “How are we going to afford all this?” No young person facing such a difficult and frightening battle should have to endure the added burden of financial worry.
Kelly comes from a family deeply rooted in the Massapequa community. Her parents, Crissy and Jerry, and brother, Michael, are known for their selfless dedication to our local youth. Crissy has touched countless lives as the Computer TA at Fairfield Elementary School, a catechist at St. Rose of Lima Church, and a dedicated Girl Scout leader. Jerry has also given back to the community through years of coaching Massapequa Coast Baseball and St. Rose of Lima CYO Basketball. Michael is a volunteer junior firefighter at West End Firehouse.
Now, this loving family needs our support. Please, let us rally around Kelly and her family during this incredibly challenging time. Any contribution, large or small, will help ease the financial strain of medical expenses and allow Kelly to focus on what matters most: her health and well-being. Let’s show Kelly and her family the strength and compassion of our community as they navigate this difficult journey.
