Support Kaiden’s Journey to Recovery and Mobility

This is Kaiden. He’s a sweet, happy, just-turned 5-year-old. On April 10th, his life was completely changed when he was hit by a truck while playing in his grandmother’s driveway. Unfortunately, after the scene was handled by law enforcement, Kaiden and his family didn’t receive any help from the insurance of the driver, even when Kaiden had to be airlifted to MUSC and have his leg amputated due to the extensive crushing of the bones in it. While his 3 and 7-year-old brothers, Kamari and Tewon, stayed with their grandmother, Kaiden’s mother, Akeda, stayed by his side in the hospital where he stayed from April 10th to May 23rd.

Kaiden’s grandmother, Serena, told us about her sweet grandson when we were in Walgreens, where she works and knows my children, mother, and me from frequenting. We were shocked and heartbroken by learning of what happened to sweet, joyful little Kaiden. He is obviously going to be facing so many brand new challenges of life without one of his legs, and his family is facing some extremely expensive changes to be able to accommodate this huge, life-changing event for him. Aside from the hospital stay and all the work missed to be there and care for the boys, especially during the summer when they aren’t in school, they are having to make their homes equipped for a wheelchair and, hopefully, eventually a prosthetic leg for Kaiden.

Serena, Kaiden’s grandmother, didn’t know how to make a fundraiser, so I offered to do it for her because I couldn’t give enough to make a significant difference to their very difficult circumstances. I am really hoping this amazing community will share this everywhere and donate to help Kaiden’s transition to living life without one of his legs much easier and less painful for him and his family.

Tranding Fundraisers

I’ve created this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friends, Sarah and James, who are enduring every parent’s worst nightmare — the loss of their beloved son, Leo.

We’re heartbroken to share that our dear friend Alex passed away far too soon. His light, his laughter, his incredible spirit — they touched so many, and his absence is deeply felt.

Hi everyone — Angela here, writing on behalf of Matthew (for now). On December 6th, completely out of the blue, Matthew suffered a severe stroke.
