Hi Friends, my name is Stephanie and I am creating this fundraiser for my dear friend Juanita Harris. Juanita is an incredible artist, singer, actress, and most of all, friend. This extraordinarily talented woman was recently hospitalized with symptoms she didn’t understand. After many tests and many scary nights in the hospital without an explanation of what was wrong, they finally gave our dear friend her diagnosis – stage IV liver cancer.
Juanita makes her living solely by performing. Being in the hospital and having poor insurance coverage (like many single, independent artists) means Juanita has no way to support herself. She doesn’t know what tomorrow will bring, doesn’t know how she will cover her bills and expenses, and feels helpless and fearful about the future. Without coverage and support, she is not even sure what kind of treatment she can hope to receive. My hope for my friend is to have support enough to make money the least of her concerns. My hope is that she can focus on healing, finding the right treatment, and on building her strength to fight this so she can go back to doing what she loves and what the world adores and loves her for – her music, her artistry, and her beautiful presence in this world.
Juanita is the kind of person that is there for her friends and family. Juanita has given her time and talent to many organizations and productions, including being a UNICEF artist where her talent contributed to helping children around the world who are in need. She has a huge heart and a beautiful soul, and if you have ever seen her perform, you will know that she is a channel for God’s light and love – her gift is so immeasurable.
