Support David Lewis’s Stroke Recovery Journey

PLEASE donate for David Lewis’s Medical Treatment and Family Expenses.

On Saturday, May 17th, David Lewis had just finished walking the family dog, and was preparing to go to his job selling cars in Shallotte, North Carolina. Suddenly, he realized that his left leg and left arm stopped functioning altogether. David called his wife, Michelle, to come and help him. In an instant, David’s life had taken yet another unexpected turn for the worse. He had suffered a debilitating stroke.

The former state representative and farmer had been working hard for the past several years to try to pay back debts and regain his footing. First as an appliance salesman in Raleigh, and then as a car salesman in Brunswick County, David put in the long hours, did the honest work, paid some bills, and provided what he could for his family. Just as quickly as David learned about the business of selling cars, and sold quite a few of them, he suffered a stroke that has left him bedridden and disabled.

Since that day, David has been hospitalized at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Housed in the Rehabilitation Unit, David now faces a new battle: to regain the use of his left leg and left arm. The doctors say that it will be at least 6 to 12 months before David could possibly recover. David is unable to walk, unable to work, and unable to pay for the disability upfits to the Lewis house that will be required whenever he is finally released to go home.

David will continue to receive rehabilitative care as a patient of the hospital, and eventually on an outpatient basis. David has been through so much these past five years. Through it all, he is still the same smiling, friendly, caring man he’s always been.

As David’s close friend, I ask all who know and love David to pray for his healing and his family’s recovery.

I want David, his wife, and his three children to have everything they need to get through this crisis together.

Please consider making a donation to the Lewis Family to help them pay their household expenses, for excellent rehabilitative care, and for upfits to the family home that are required in order for David to come home. The Lewis family has a long and painful road ahead of them. Please contribute as much as you can so that David knows we are 100% behind him. You have no idea how much your donation will do to alleviate David’s overwhelming financial stress.

Whether you can offer your prayers, or have financial resources to give, we appreciate all your support of David, his family, and his eventual recovery.

Thank you.

We’re heartbroken to share that our dear friend Alex passed away far too soon. His light, his laughter, his incredible spirit — they touched so many, and his absence is deeply felt.

Hi everyone — Angela here, writing on behalf of Matthew (for now). On December 6th, completely out of the blue, Matthew suffered a severe stroke.
