On Saturday, June 14th, our world changed forever. What we thought was just a routine visit for a sick child turned into every parent’s worst nightmare. We walked into the hospital expecting a flu diagnosis something common, something manageable. Instead, we were told that our beautiful, vibrant girl is facing the fight of her life against T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. We went from planing her birthday party on June 21st to planning our long stay at Riley Hospital.
In less than a week, the energetic little girl who loved to play, laugh, and enjoy life has been brought down to struggling just to get out of bed. Watching her energy and strength leave her body has been terrible, but we are here to make sure we fight beside her.
While we focus on her health and well-being, the reality of this is setting in. The medical costs, the time off work, the ongoing treatments, these are all facts we are starting to realize will cost us a lot. We are asking for your support, this support will help us focus on most important fight.
She needs all the emotional and physical support possible, and we are doing everything in our power to provide that. But life doesn’t stop just because ours has been thrown into chaos. While we wish the world would stop for one second and the bad news would stop coming in, it wont.
Our lives have changed, our expectations have changed, and the life we were building is now on hold. We will continue fighting no matter what but we ask for your help to ease the burden. We know it is not any of your burden to carry but its a burden no one should have. It isn’t fair for us but most and importantly it isn’t fair for 5 year old Brixley who should be outside playing with other kids having the time of her life celebrating the birthday party she would not get is now here fighting everyday.
Your support means everything. Thank you for standing with us and with Brixley.
