Riverlyn was diagnosed with a congenital heart disease called Shone’s Complex the day after she was born. Since then she has had three heart surgeries (two of them open heart) and is on the cusp of a third open heart surgery.
Levine Children’s Hospital has saved her life many times at this point. Though, Rivy’s CHD is complex and has required close attention and many adjustments as her family and care team have sought to see her become stable. We are preparing to take her to Boston Children’s Hospital where they have surgeons who specialize in her mitral valve replacements for pediatrics.
After being in and out of the hospital for about half of the last 16 months, we are in patient again and making sure Rivy is safe and as stable as possible before surgery.
Last year we did a small fundraiser with the My Heart book and are so thankful to everyone who has and is supporting us in every way. At this point, the costs we are incurring are growing and will increase significantly as we prepare to travel to Boston for an open ended timeframe. Rivy’s surgery will be covered – thank God.
We will be utilizing resources for:
- gas
- lodging
- child care
- meals
- bills (while work is modified for us)
- supplies
- return trip costs
- post-op & medium-term recovery therapies not covered by insurance (primarily a feeding intensive as Riverlyn still does not eat by mouth)
We have faith and hope that this next step will afford Rivy the longevity we’ve been in desperate pursuit of for her! Thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and tangible support. It has taken a village and beyond to get us this far and we have a long way to go!
