Rise and Rally for Luke – Next Steps

First and foremost, we want to say thank you. The overwhelming love, support, and prayers we’ve received from family, friends, and even strangers have carried us through some very difficult moments. We’re deeply grateful for each of you walking this journey with us.

Luke’s Journey Update

In March, we traveled to Boston believing Luke would undergo a one-and-done heart surgery. But that’s not how things unfolded. Instead, we returned home with no surgery—and a completely new and unexpected care plan.

During pre-op evaluations, doctors discovered that Luke’s trachea was much more compromised than we knew. He was also having severe aspiration issues, in addition to his already known congenital heart defect. It was a whirlwind trip that left us with more questions than answers.

We came home with a plan to manage things medically for a time and look at a combined surgery for his heart and trachea in the future. Sadly, that medical management hasn’t improved his condition. After much discussion between his Boston specialists, local care team, and therapists, it was decided this week that surgery is the next best step to help Luke thrive.

This is a heavy update, and the road ahead won’t be easy. The upcoming surgery will be more complex and involved than what we had originally prepared for. But while it feels overwhelming, we are confident that the Lord has gone before us. He has known Luke’s journey from the very beginning and continues to guide every step.

Luke’s surgery is scheduled for July 21st in Boston, and we expect to be there for a couple of weeks.

Why We’re Asking for Help

As we begin planning for this trip, we’ve run into some significant logistical challenges. Because this falls during peak tourist season, the costs of lodging and flights are much higher than we anticipated. We’re looking into options like the Ronald McDonald House and hospital-affiliated housing, but there are long waitlists and limited availability—especially during the days Luke will be in the ICU.

Several kind friends and family members have already asked how they can help, which encouraged us to start this fundraiser. We are simply trusting the Lord to provide in this season, however that may look.

It is humbling to ask for support like this. We do not take lightly the generosity it takes to give financially, and every gift—no matter the size—helps create a path for Luke to receive the care he needs.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us. Your prayers, love, and support are helping to carry us forward, and we believe that God has big plans for our little boy.

Tranding Fundraisers

I’ve created this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friends, Sarah and James, who are enduring every parent’s worst nightmare — the loss of their beloved son, Leo.

We’re heartbroken to share that our dear friend Alex passed away far too soon. His light, his laughter, his incredible spirit — they touched so many, and his absence is deeply felt.

Hi everyone — Angela here, writing on behalf of Matthew (for now). On December 6th, completely out of the blue, Matthew suffered a severe stroke.
