This is a somewhat complex story for a simple request. Casey is my step-son. He lives in South Carolina and has full custody of his 2 beautiful girls. Financially, they are struggling. He has 16 years of work experience in his field, but now finds himself unemployed. Due to reasons beyond his control, he has severe dental issues. Unfortunately, he is being judged because of this in job interviews. He puts forth 100% positivity in interviews, but he can see interviewer reactions. My primary goal is to get him the dental work he needs along with catching up bills and getting his girls new clothes. He desperately wants to get back to work, so he can do his best for his girls!
I’ll try to make the story about his dental issues as brief as possible. He was married. Both he and his now ex-wife were very overweight. She had issues keeping a job. Throughout the 12 year marriage she worked about 12 total months at 3 different jobs. Casey put her through beauty school, but she still wouldn’t work. He wanted to be healthier and hoped that a new self image would motivate her, so he set them up through his work insurance to get weight loss surgeries. The doctors warned them that they would have to take nutritional supplements to maintain good health, due to the inability to eat much. She continued to not work and they had a hard time affording the supplements. Dental problems began for both of them. Nobody knew at the time that his ex was using her newly thinner appearance to win over her high school sweetheart, on the side. Casey decided to take a loan against his truck so they could both get dental work. The day he got the money, his now ex, packed up the kids and ran to Michigan (from SC) to pursue an affair. He had to turn over the loan money to a lawyer, along with money from several relatives and friends, over time. When this all started, Casey was working for a family-owned steel company. They were fine with him missing time for court dates to get custody and pursue a divorce. However, during all of these court appearances, the company he worked for sold out to a larger corporation. The new ownership fired him for the attendance that the previous owners had approved. It didn’t matter that he was fighting for his kids. They just fired him.
I never thought I would be on a site like this, asking for help, but family and friends are running out of money to help out. I am new to fundraiser and am not sure how all of this works. I’m learning as I go. I will be glad to post receipts of every expense. Please help out this great dad and his beautiful girls!
