Hi, my name is Shams. I’m a Canadian citizen. My parents are living with me in Canada. They have provincial healthcare coverage temporarily. They have been living with me for a few years and they had zero health incidents. Unfortunately, all that changed when my mother became diagnosed with Bladder cancer at the last month of her healthcare coverage. She received the treatment to remove the tumor and it went well. However, the specialist is saying there might be some more treatment needed for her kidney. This was caused by the Bladder tumor. This second phase of the treatment will be done when her healthcare coverage is gone. And private insurance will not cover this as they will put it in the ongoing treatment clause. This means that we will have to pay for the surgery and hospital stays out of pocket. I have learned that one day of hospital stay costs an average of $9100 CAD. I have not accounted for the doctor visits, surgery and other medical needs which will be extremely costly as well.
I am currently working but its not a high paying job. Its enough to support us for our day to day needs. My mother was also working as temporary worker and was trying to support herself. We have some money saved up but it is nowhere near what it can potentially cost us. Paying out of pocket can will be devastating for us and we can no longer sustain ourselves.
Therefore, we ask the community to lend us a hand in these trying times. I am not asking for a whole lot. I think $20,000 should help us a lot. I don’t know if this will be enough but it is better than nothing. This whole situation is causing us a great distress and hardship. We request anyone reading this to donate whatever you can.
I am ready to disclose any information needed. But I cannot share all information such as ID numbers. I will try to disclose doctor’s notes and report details to the best of my abilities.
Again, we are in desperation. Please help us if you can!
Thank you so much!
