Hello!
My name is Brianna and I am raising funds for our family due to the health issues my husband Jon has been having. For over a year, Jon has been dealing with wounds caused by his diabetes and a degenerative condition known as Charcot Foot. We were treating at home as best we could (I feel like an honorary nurse), and he occasionally saw a podiatrist. However, as his condition worsened, his care was transferred to the Maine Medical Center Wound Clinic, and within a week of that, he was hospitalized for a week due to MRSA, Staph, and cellulitis.
The surgeon successfully cleaned the infection out and stabilized the foot, saving it—for now. This was in March, and he is still taking courses of antibiotics as they monitor his left toe, which also developed Charcot, and the wounds on his right foot, which still have not completely healed.
Progress has been made as he just received a CROW boot for his right foot and a mobility scooter (which we are still waiting to hear if insurance will cover ). He cannot drive currently due to the specialty boots on his feet, so our life has been revolving around doctor’s appointments on top of having a very active 4-year-old who has been a trooper helping with Daddy’s boo-boos.
Although luckily Jon works from home remotely, he is missing work for numerous weekly doctor appointments, wound care, etc. This has caused a drop in his take-home pay.
It is hard to ask for help, knowing the situation could be worse. Amputation may still be on the table at some point.
But as we get further behind in day-to-day bills, plus added expenses of things not covered by insurance, I think it is time to put this out there as maybe someone will want to help a good cause.
Funds will go towards:
Household bills to cover decreased pay due to time off for medical appointments (about $300 short a month)
Custom diabetic shoe(s) that insurance doesn’t cover
Possibly the mobility scooter pending insurance’s decision
Possible assistance to our family due to Jon’s limited mobility, such as pet walking/transportation to appointments when I am out on business trips
If you have read this far, thank you. Your time is appreciated whether or not you can donate.
