Hi, my name is Alisha, and I’m writing as a mom who just wants her daughter to wake up safe every morning.
Our little girl Savannah is 19 months old — bright, sweet, and so full of life. But her journey hasn’t been easy. She started having seizures when she was just four days old. Watching your newborn go through that — helpless, hooked up to wires and monitors — it’s a kind of fear no parent should have to feel. She was diagnosed with epilepsy shortly after, and it’s been a rollercoaster ever since.
Today, her seizures are mostly under control thanks to medication, but her recent overnight EEG still shows abnormal epileptic brain activity during sleep. That means seizures can still happen — especially at night, when we’re not there to see them.
As her parents, sleep is one of the hardest times. Savannah currently sleeps in her crib in her own room, and while we use a standard baby monitor, it offers no protection against silent or subtle seizures. We’re always on edge, especially knowing that medication dosages will likely need to increase as she grows and her condition evolves.
That’s why we’re raising funds to purchase a SAMi seizure monitoring camera — a specialized camera system that detects unusual nighttime movement and alerts us immediately. It’s designed for children like Savannah, and it could literally be life-saving by waking us in time to respond. We would like to get her the Sami-3 Complete kit.
Unfortunately, this system isn’t covered by insurance, and it’s more than we can afford right now. We are hoping to raise $1,400 to cover the SAMi monitor, accessories, shipping, and any setup needs.
