Hi, friends and family —
We’re reaching out with hopeful hearts to ask for your help in giving our son, Jace, something that could truly change — and protect — his life.
Jace is 8 years old and lives with Type 1 Diabetes. This disease is relentless. It affects him every minute of every day and night. While we use the best technology available, like continuous glucose monitors and insulin pumps, there have been times when the alarms didn’t sound soon enough — and that reality is terrifying.
Lately, Jace’s diabetes has become more complex, and we’ve seen firsthand how quickly things can change. After a lot of research and prayer, we found something that can give us an extra layer of protection: a diabetic alert dog.
These specially trained dogs are able to detect dangerous blood sugar changes before they become critical — using their powerful sense of smell to notice shifts even advanced technology can miss.
The Trainer: Brian McCoy of Genius Dogs, Lancaster, OH
We’re thrilled to be working with Brian McCoy at Genius Dogs, a trusted and experienced service dog trainer based in Lancaster, Ohio. Brian will be training Jace’s dog through an intensive 5–7 month program designed specifically for diabetic alert work. This dog will be trained not just to detect highs and lows, but to alert Jace and those around him — potentially saving his life.
Total Cost: $15,000
This includes:
• The cost of the dog
• 5–7 months of specialized training
• Public access certification
• Travel and follow-up support
• Equipment and supplies
It’s a large amount, but we believe that with the love and support of our community, we can make this happen for Jace.
If you’re able to donate — even just a few dollars — it will bring us closer to giving Jace the safety, confidence, and independence he deserves. If you’re unable to donate right now, please consider sharing this fundraiser or reaching out with fundraising ideas. We’ll be organizing local events as well!
Thank you for believing in Jace and helping us give him the tools he needs to thrive.
With love and gratitude,
The Walton’s
