Help Richard Thompson Access Life-Saving Cancer Treatment
Richard Thompson, a beloved father, husband, and friend, is facing the fight of his life. Earlier this year, he was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of unknown origin—a rare and aggressive form of cancer that has left doctors uncertain of where it began in the body. Without knowing the origin, his medical team cannot create a fully targeted treatment plan.
In an effort to get answers, Richard traveled from his home in The Bahamas to the United States in early 2025. There, he underwent a PET scan and was referred to an oncologist who recommended a liver biopsy. Unfortunately, Richard had to return home before the procedure could be completed.
Just days after returning, Richard’s condition took a sudden and devastating turn. He was hospitalized and lost all mobility, a frightening and painful experience for both him and his family. He was quickly flown back to the U.S., where he was able to complete the biopsy. The results confirmed the presence of cancer, but they still did not determine where it originated.
To move forward with the best care possible, Richard now urgently needs molecular testing, which will help identify the type of cancer and inform a more effective, personalized treatment. In the meantime, his doctors have recommended he begin six rounds of chemotherapy right away. However, the chemotherapy drugs needed are not available in The Bahamas and require weekly travel to Florida for treatment.
The financial burden is overwhelming. The cost of chemotherapy, port placement, and molecular testing totals $20,000 USD—not including additional travel or medical expenses. Richard and his family are doing all they can, but they cannot carry this weight alone.
Richard is known for his kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for his family and friends. He’s a man who has always been there for others—and now, he needs support from his community and beyond.
This fundraiser aims to help cover the essential medical costs that could give Richard a fighting chance. Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward his treatment and care. If you’re unable to give at this time, please consider sharing this page with others who might be able to help.
