My name is Christal Kulungian. I am 51 from AL. I am a survivor of severe childhood abuse. I am a single mother of four. I have 2 sets of twins and one child in the middle. Unfortunately, one of my younger twins passed away at the age of five due to a medical error during a craniotomy. After this happened, I prosecuted a medical malpractice case to try and get justice for my daughter. Amidst these events, my husband and I got divorced. In July of 2019, I was diagnosed with severe rheumatoid arthritis and Lupus. These diseases affect your immune system, joints, organs, and brain. I have recently had a severe hypotension episode where I had a small stroke as well. My care team has decided that it is time I start chemotherapy and has recommended being treated at the MAYO clinic in MN because my disease levels are so high.
In 2023, I had to file bankruptcy due to medical bills and the cost of treatment. This has been very hard on me mentally, physically, and financially. I am looking for help and support through this time because I can no longer work, I lost my health insurance, and I am doing everything I can to get by.
