We’re reaching out to ask for your support for a dear friend who has shown incredible strength and courage through unimaginable challenges. After fleeing life-threatening conditions in Pakistan due to being openly transgender, they have finally made it to the United States — to Texas — in search of safety, dignity, and the chance to live as their true self.
Sadly, the struggles have not ended. Our friend urgently needs gender-affirming surgery, which is critical not just for their physical well-being, but also for their mental health and quality of life. The surgery is a vital step in healing from the trauma they’ve endured and affirming their identity — but it comes with a cost they cannot shoulder alone.
They are currently uninsured and do not qualify for government assistance. Despite all efforts, the barriers to medical access remain steep and time is of the essence. The sooner they receive this care, the sooner they can begin to rebuild their life with peace, safety, and hope.
We are asking for your help to raise around $22k to cover surgery costs, related medical expenses, and post-operative care. Every donation — no matter the size — brings us one step closer to giving our friend the fresh start they so deeply deserve. Also due to his safety concerns we are keeping his identity hidden.
