Hello, my name is J.P. Schoenbeck. My wife Christine and I were driving near the desert waters outside of Yuma, Arizona, when we came across an encampment with a gentleman named Frank and his dog Daisy. Frank appeared to be camping in a dilapidated old tugboat parked near the river. We all had conversation together about similar interests and current events.
As it turns out, Frank has just gone through his third round of chemotherapy, has lost his home and support from family, and is living day to day in 100/110 degree heat with little food or clothing. He has spent his entire life’s work and home sale on medical expenses of over $730,000. His boat was ransacked during his last 10-day stay at the hospital earlier this month of June. Thieves stole his solar panels, batteries, stove, cookware, clothes, and propane refrigerator, leaving him with just a shell of a small boat. He is now penniless with no outside support and the current situation is closing in on him.
With the summer heat arriving early and limited resources for support, I ask that we bring him new solar panels, batteries, kitchenware, and repair for his shelter, approximately $6k. I will also allocate funds for a 1-year RV space with a community shower, water, and electricity hookup. This runs approximately $4k. I will also allocate funds for ongoing treatment of health and wellness, food, and medications.
After returning to donate food and clothing I have learned Frank has a great attitude and self worth, with intelligence but limited strength and resources. Please do not let this moment of help pass as this may be the last time of intervention before the corner turns.
Thank you, you are amazing!
