Hi everyone,
As many of you know, I’ve spent the last three years living in Pullman and working as a CNA providing in-home care for the past two and a half years. This is Sue—she was my very first client, and I’ve been with her ever since. But at this point, she is so much more than a client. She has become my family here.
I spend about 18 hours a week with Sue, and often stop by even on my days off just to sit and chat—because she is, without a doubt, the kindest and funniest person I’ve ever met. Despite the long list of medical issues that limit her mobility and cause her unbearable daily pain, she greets every day with a smile and does everything she can to bring joy to the people around her.
Sue hasn’t been able to take a bath or shower in over a year. Her current bathtub is inaccessible, so we’ve been getting by with bed baths and washing her hair in the sink. But as you can imagine, that’s just not the same as the comfort and dignity of being able to take a real shower. We’ve explored every option to try to install a walk-in shower, but unfortunately, it’s simply beyond reach financially.
However, there is one thing that could make a difference—a Hoyer lift. With a Hoyer lift, I would be able to safely transfer Sue into the shower she already has. This device could change everything for her. It’s something she desperately needs, but insurance has denied coverage.
That’s why we’re raising money—to give her this basic but life-changing comfort. Being unable to take a proper bath has been incredibly hard on her, both physically and emotionally. I wish more than anything that I could afford to get it for her myself. Sue has given me so much over the last few years—she’s made working through college not only manageable, but meaningful. She’s truly one of the most loving and generous souls I’ve ever known.
If there’s any way you can help, whether through donations or by spreading the word, it would mean the world to both of us. Thank you so much for reading and for caring.
With love,
Grace
