Hi everyone,
My name is Jemma and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for support for two of the most important people in my life, my mum Melinda and stepdad Greg.
We’ve recently received heartbreaking news that Greg has been diagnosed with inoperable cancer. This isn’t his first battle and was previously diagnosed with cancer back in 2011. Now he’s facing a second and far more aggressive diagnosis. Sadly, this time the cancer can’t be removed or cured, and the focus is now on making Greg as comfortable as possible.
Melinda, my beautiful mum, is also a cancer survivor. Her strength, compassion, and quiet resilience have shaped our family. She has spent her life caring for others, working as a foster carer, aged care worker, and always being the first to offer support to anyone in need. Now as she tries to care full-time for Greg, the roles have reversed, and I’ll do everything I can to try help.
Right now they’re facing a situation no one should ever have to go through. Greg’s health is declining quickly, and his medical needs are beginning to add up. Mum isn’t working at the moment as she’s caring for him majority of the time, while also managing her own ongoing struggles with anxiety and depression, making it even more difficult for her to return to work during such an emotionally overwhelming time. They’re finding it hard to afford even basic living expenses. On top of this, their bathroom urgently needs to be renovated to make it safer and more accessible for Greg as his mobility continues to decline, something they simply can’t afford right now.
They are both incredibly kind, humble people who would never ask for help themselves. But as their daughter, I see how much pressure they’re under, and I know they need support now more than ever.
The funds raised will go directly toward:
-Ongoing medical treatments, medications & palliative care
-Travel to and from specialist appointments
-Everyday living costs (bills, groceries, utilities)
-Renovations to the bathroom for Greg’s accessibility
-Creating comfort, peace, and dignity for them both during this time.
More than anything, we want to give them the chance to spend their time together without the weight of financial stress. To let them focus on what truly matters: love, comfort, and quality time in whatever time they have left- with each other, with Greg’s two sons, and with the family and friends who love them most.
