A day after her birthday on March 1st, at about 7:30 am, my mom had a small stroke in the bathroom and became paralyzed. She bounced around from local hospitals to Houston and then back home after just 2 weeks. Still unable to walk, we tried to make do at home. We sunk 3 grand into medical equipment, but with my full-time job, I couldn’t see my mom in pain anymore. Finally, we got a doctor to take her seriously, and she has now been in a Living Care Hospital for 2 months. She’s made amazing progress, almost 350 lbs lost. She can now stand up alone and walk with light assistance. Even though the end is near for her, the end of credit card bills and medical bills are just starting. I’m not sure how much we will have to pay when this is all over, but I would love nothing more than to pay for the medical equipment my mom had to pay for and pay back the money she borrowed.
