Hi, my name is Jessica and I was born with a Nevus Sabaceous. A nevus sebaceous is a birthmark which is present at birth and most often found on the scalp, it consists of overgrown epidermis, sebaceous glands, hair follicles, apocrine glands, and connective tissue. I have seen a dermatologist regarding my Nevus and they have told me that there’s a good chance that it can become cancerous. Besides this, it is very uncomfortable as it itches, bleeds and weeps almost daily. Unfortunately, the surgery to have it removed is not covered by Medicare, as most types of Nevi are Benign (non cancerous) and are only removed for aesthetic purposes. Mine however is quite large, and has been recommended to be removed. I’m kindly asking for donations so I can finally part ways with my Nevus.
