Help my tia Germanía

Hello everyone,

My aunt Germanía is unfortunately fighting a terrible battle with diabetes in Ecuador and needs help. She suffers from type 2 diabetes. She recently almost fell into a diabetic coma and as a result lost mobility in her legs. Since she could not get out of bed for so many days she developed a horrible pressure ulcer on her lower back. I decided not to include a photo of this because it’s so devastating and graphic. They had to intervene on the ulcer leaving her with a horrible open wound that can’t heal due to the diabetes. She runs the risk of her blood getting infected now which could lead to sepsis.

She unfortunately does not have any insurance, and private insurance is too costly in Ecuador. All the medical care she has received has been out of pocket including medications. The public health care system is horrible and she has been neglected. She has been left without food for the entire day at times and they’ve been cleaning her less frequenty. She has no way of getting financial support, and we are doing the best we can but unfortunately we are falling short and have to make the heartbreaking decision between paying for the surgery she needs right now or letting her get dangerously worse. No family should ever have to decide this so we are doing everything we can.

Whatever help we can get to keep my aunt alive and get the surgery/medical help she needs will be immensely appreciated.

Tranding Fundraisers

I’ve created this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friends, Sarah and James, who are enduring every parent’s worst nightmare — the loss of their beloved son, Leo.

We’re heartbroken to share that our dear friend Alex passed away far too soon. His light, his laughter, his incredible spirit — they touched so many, and his absence is deeply felt.

Hi everyone — Angela here, writing on behalf of Matthew (for now). On December 6th, completely out of the blue, Matthew suffered a severe stroke.
