Support Jacob Ayers’ Long Road to Recovery

This is a call for love, support, prayers, and help. If you know Jacob Ayers, you have likely felt all of these things from him personally. This is his story as of now:

Friday, June 6th, at 1 AM, Jacob was rushed via ambulance to St. Anthony’s Hospital. From there, his life would and will be changed forever. After diagnosing Jacob with diverticulitis, after many hours of pain and trauma and too much time being taken to reach that conclusion, he was told he would have to have an Emergency surgery. They scheduled the surgery for 4PM that day. Jacob had little time to prepare for the risks that were explained to him. Complications continued to arise. Friends, Family, please know that it is not wise to explain all, due to legality and the attempt at building a case against the absolute medical neglect and truly torturous things he has endured. Know it was a lot, and many things were unnecessary and completely avoidable. Jacob’s surgery was moved to 9 PM.

Jacob left that surgery with a colostomy bag,a nine inch incision between his abdominal muscles. and incredible pain. During the next few days, his health would continue to deteriorate. Preventably.

Monday, June 9th, Jacob went into Sepsis Shock. Jacob was rushed to a second emergency surgery at 10AM. He experienced extreme complications before that surgery that physically and mentally hurt him for life. Due to AFIB, and extreme heart distress, his surgery was halted, and he was left with his abdominal cavity open, mid surgery, intubated, and held in sedation over night (his sedation was not maintained and he had to be restrained to his bed). His surgery was continued Wednesday. Jacob left his second emergency surgery with no Lower Intestine, an even larger incision on top of his previous one, a hole where his failed colostomy was, a large wound-vac, and an ileostomy.

Thursday, June 12th, was a day of excruciating pain, high fever, high heart rate, and dangerously high blood pressure. He was informed his heart functionality was at 45 percent, and could stay that way for life.

Friday afternoon, June 13th, after all stats continually coming back poor, it was discovered Jacob’s right kidney was never reattached to his bladder. Jacob had to wait, in pain, while his abdomen filled with urine, causing his small intestine to seize, for medication to clear his system to go in to yet another Emergency surgery on Saturday morning. The first attempt at his surgery would happen through his penis, in an attempt to attach his ureter. This failed. He was put on to his stomach, and a drain was placed in his back through a hole.

Saturday, Sunday, and Monday were days of recovery, pain, and trauma.

Tuesday, June 17th, Jacob had a default catheter removed after suffering for days with it.

Today, Jacob is able to eat, and small victories are happening every hour. He is continually on the path of recovery, and thousands have sent love and prayers and healing energy. He has held on with such tenacity and strength. Nothing has brought this man down, despite so many efforts to do so. He has remained so positive, and continues to climb. His NURSING staff loves him dearly, and has truly taken the best care of him. He has a ton of love in his corner with his family and friends.

Jacob’s life will forever be changed, and he will never be able to do certain things he was able to do before.

Jacob is looking at over a year of recovery time, just to put his body back together, and at least two more surgeries over the course of that year. During his recovery time, work will not be possible. Please consider sending not just love, but monetary help, as well. Not only are the medical bills astronomical, this next year will be impossible for him to generate income.

Jacob is a fighter, and continues to fight. He is not out of the woods, but he is trying, and he won’t give up. He needs our help.

Thank you, and God Bless.
