Help My Uncle Recover After His Kidney Transplant
After years of waiting, my uncle finally received the call we’ve all been praying for — a kidney became available, and he underwent transplant surgery just a few days ago. We are beyond grateful, but this next chapter comes with a new set of challenges.
He will need to travel from Raleigh to Chapel Hill 1–2 times a week for the next 6 weeks for critical follow-up appointments. Unfortunately, transportation has been a major hurdle. He doesn’t currently have reliable means to get to and from his dialysis and now post-op appointments, and this has made the healing process even more stressful.
My uncle is one of the hardest-working people I know. He’s been DoorDashing to stay afloat while managing his health, but as you can imagine, recovery from a major surgery like this makes it difficult to work consistently.
This fundraiser is to help with:
• Transportation to and from Chapel Hill for post-transplant care
• Medical bills and medications
• Basic day-to-day living expenses while he recovers
