On June 8, 2025, at exactly 2:30 a.m., I received a Facebook message no mother should ever have to read — my 20-year-old son, D’Errick Rodrigue, had been shot in a senseless drive-by shooting. In that moment, my world stopped. I couldn’t breathe. I truly believed my baby was gone.
By the grace of God, D’Errick survived. He was shot twice — once in the hand and once in the wrist — with the bullets shattering his metacarpal bone. As a result, he currently has no mobility in his dominant hand. He now faces surgery, extensive physical therapy, and the emotional weight of trauma.
Tragically, D’Errick’s two best friends, who were in the car with him, did not survive the shooting. Our hearts are shattered. He is devastated, grieving, and in need of counseling to begin the healing process from such an unthinkable loss.
I’ve always been a praying mother — someone who gives with no expectation of return. But now, I find myself on the other side, humbling myself to ask for help. We are raising funds to cover the costs of his medical care, rehabilitation, and mental health support as he begins this long and painful journey toward recovery.
If you feel led to give, please know that any amount — no matter how small — means the world to us. And if you’re unable to donate, we ask for your continued prayers and that you share this message with others.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. May God bless you and your loved ones. And please — keep God first in everything you do.
