Dear friends, family, and supporters:
In December 2024—at the age of 34 my little brother Alex was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, aka Lou Gehrig’s Disease) and in March 2025 he was diagnosed with Lyme disease and co-infections.
Let me take a step back and introduce my brother for those of you that don’t know him. He was born when I was 11 years old and I was always his second mom. He is extremely intelligent, inventive, loyal, amazing work ethic and just all-around good family guy! He graduated from Iowa State with Electrical Engineering and started working at MidAmerican. He found the love of his life, KK in 2016 and they dated until they were married March 2019. They always wanted kids and are great parents to Kaden 4, Atley almost 2 and Ellie born 5/22/2025. He currently works for BHE- renewables and they have been amazing since day 1 of his diagnosis!
ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease-causing muscle weakness, paralysis, and eventual respiratory system failure. Chronic Lyme disease is known for mimicking ALS symptoms and shown with faster progression. Despite being known for over a century, it remains severely underfunded, and approved treatments only slow progression and extend survival by a few months.
Although ALS has no known cure, the last few years have brought significant growth in research on ALS, including its underlying mechanisms and potential early-stage therapies. There are also now known to be over 60 documented spontaneous ALS reversals, including several who were taking supplements or alternative treatment modalities not covered by insurance.
If ever there was a time to believe ALS is beatable, it is now.
But Alex needs time—and our support. ALS is known as “the bankruptcy disease”. To fight it, Alex and his family, will need support for costs of in-home medical and personal care, wheelchair accessible van and medical expenses and alternative therapies not covered by insurance. I would also like to put some money aside to help with their mortgage and kids’ college funds.
To support them in this fight, we are asking your support by donating to help Alex and his family defray the financial burdens of fighting ALS.
Let’s rally together to be the support Alex, KK, Kaden, Atley and Ellie.
Thank you in advance for your support and being part of Alex’s fight!
-Team Alex
